Phoenix rising, carries a certain stillness. Out of step with modern times.
Abilities: She can affect light and air to some extent, and is proficient in elemental, magic but what she really excels at is fire; she can create it at will, control it, draw it out of anything it is possible to create fire with, and is generally impervious to all forms of heat/etc. While she can transform into an actual phoenix it is not something she does lightly and it's unlikely that anyone at here has or ever will see it. In that form, her presence can be quite overwhelming, however. She sometimes exudes an aura of calm and soothing, but it's not really a thing she does consciously.
Personality: Pretty much the epitome of calm, cool, and collected. She always seems one step removed from whatever's going on, like she's watching it from a great height, but she is also very clearly paying attention. She's generally pleasant, if a bit distant, and often hard to read. She's a bit warmer with people she's familiar with, but there's always a lingering bit of formality. She gets imperious instead of angry and prefers to retaliate in indirect but devastating ways. She's listening, and she's gathering information for… something.
Underneath that – well. There's a quick and calculating mind with an implacable patience and very little tenderness.
History: Yuxiang is from a long line of magic users originating from the small Chinese town of Fenghuang. There are varying levels of power spread throughout the bloodlines, and the most promising candidates are raised in the family's main compound from the ages of 5-18, undergoing rigorous magical training. Only one woman per generation holds the title of “Phoenix” and is capable of the transformation; she is invariably among those who were trained at Fenghuang. Yuxiang is the current title holder and has a thirteen year old daughter who is now training in China.
While the majority of the family prefers living in seclusion, the current head of the family is generally highly visible. Yuxiang has been on the move for the last decade, spending a few years here and there at different, seemingly random places around the world. She says she's just observing the world. She's mostly telling the truth.
