Biao Yuelin

Third disciple of Gao Chun, main weapon is the xun. Politely aloof with all but his closest friends, who know he's actually a crank with a sharp tongue and soft heart. Perpetually at odds with fate and the public's fascination with his husband. Just wants to be left alone together in peace.

Appearance

  • Taller, and slim
  • 6' / 183cm
  • Very graceful and precise mannerisms
  • Can say more in a glance than some can in paragraphs
  • Perfect posture
  • Generally projects an air of polite disinterest
  • Traditional hair and robes even in modern times, though generally quite simple
  • Wears a lot of white and light, cool colors

Personality

  • Initial impression is perfectly polite but aloof and cool
  • This is unlikely to change unless one gets to know him well, which is difficult
  • True form, known only to close friends, is a crabby gremlin with a crude mouth
  • Not actually patient at all, but can pretend to be
  • Super sarcastic and a little bit tsundere
  • Talks a big game but is very squishy on the inside
  • Can be talked into many, if not all, bad ideas
  • A sleepy and cuddly drunk, but can drink most people under the table
  • Something of a wild child in his youthful disciple days, but only after dark
  • Teases his shidimei mercilessly, often in an irritatingly deadpan fashion
  • Gets embarrassed easily but not in a cute way; just gets haughtier and haughtier
  • Now very tired of being spotlight-adjacent
  • Just wants to be a hermit on a mountain who can control the amount of people-exposure he gets

Abilities

  • Several hundred years old
  • Corresponding amount of spiritual power
  • Main cultivation tool/weapon is the xun
  • Also handy with a fan and a sword; will use throwing knives in a pinch
  • A well-bred gentlemen's level of the four noble arts
  • Generally musical, can play various flutes in addition to the guqin and xun
  • Excellent qinggong
  • Swims like a fish
  • Excels at cuttingly polite statements
  • Basically a Disney princess with how much even wild animals love him
  • Familiar is an asian koel named Yujin (餘燼) who is even crankier than he is

History

  • From a minor branch of a major cultivation family
  • Grew up watching various cousins/etc jockey for position
  • Became a little jaded and very careful about showing his true feelings as a result
  • Chose to become the at the time lesser-known Gao Chun's disciple partially because he was interested in her techniques and partially as a minor rebellion against his status-obsessed family
  • Made friends with his fellow disciples and slowly learned to let loose
  • Got together with his da shixiong Lin Libo after many trials and tribulations
  • Suffers immensely from his husband's main character energy but automatically compensates for his (few) shortcomings
  • After many years roaming jianghu and doing heroic deeds together, convinced Libo to retire to a mountaintop with him
  • This cut down on the interruptions somewhat
  • Still limits their trips down the mountains because they inevitably become quests of some sort

Relationships

Lin Libo: Husband that he loves but is sometimes exasperated with

Qiao Wanqian: Littlest shidi that he teases mercilessly

Gao Chun's Disciples: Basically his whole inner circle
