Qiu Hongyu

Qiu Hongyu (秋红羽), professionally known as Xia Que (夏雀). His nickname is 包子.

Appearance

Height: 185 cm (Taller Than AK)
Build: Athletic— though he's not a professional anymore, he keeps up most of his old workout routine.
Hair: Black, fine. No longer kept long, reaches his ears at the front. He doesn't pay much attention to styling it, just makes sure that he's professional-looking.
Eyes: Dark brown/black.
Style: At work, he alternated the same three suits that he kept from his cultivation days— because they still fit, and they're not too gaudy. Dress shirt, sometimes a blazer, suit pants, usually grey or dark blue. Never flashy. In his everyday life, he does whatever the hell he wants, going for ease of movement most of the time. Still wears his old high school tracksuit which is bright red with white athletic stripes. He'll wear the same pair of sneakers until they're completely destroyed. Has one nice pair of solid, good boots, which he's kept in excellent condition.

Personality

Quiet and overly serious, a dedicated worker who keeps to himself at work and either has no time for jokes or flat out doesn't understand them. He's not mean-spirited or particularly cold to his colleagues, but he makes no attempt to reach out, either. An introvert by nature. He's used to getting attention for various reasons but doesn't thrive on it. In his private life, he's a little bit more animated, but barely. He can be petty and surprisingly catty after a few drinks.

Has a tendency to overthink social situations because he's not very good at them, and most of the time when the going gets rough he just shuts down. Book smart with the emotional IQ of a gnat. Very sentimental and romantic despite all that, has a hard time letting go of physical objects that he assigns (too much) meaning to— finds this aspect of himself embarrassing and will deny it. Also just places a lot of value on objects in part because of a deeply ingrained impulse not to waste things.

Strong sense of justice and morality, stubborn as a mule. Never raises his voice, not even when he's furious, prefers to let his actions speak for themselves.

Abilities

Excellent with a sword (a traditional Chinese jian, of course) and a folding fan, with which he can manipulate and create powerful blasts of qi. His qinggong in particular was highly rated in the cultivation scene when he was a professional.

History

An unwanted child— at least by his parents— he was given to his maternal grandmother to raise as a toddler. They didn't have a lot of money and lived in a relatively shabby part of town, but they had each other and the community of aunties and uncles and grandmas and grandpas to rely on.

A smart and athletic kid, he did well in school and managed to get into a very good high school in the area. He didn't have many friends but eventually formed a small friend group with other kids interested in swordplay and cultivation. This lead to the life-changing rivalry he formed with one Dong Aokang, whom he would go on to pursue professional cultivation with after high school.

When his grandmother passed away due to illness, he continued living on his own in the same house he grew up in, only moving out for privacy reasons when his career took off. He still owns the house and puts funds into maintaining it to this day.

Their professional cultivation doubles career made him and Aokang celebrities, which never sat well with Hongyu. After a number of years, it all became too much for him and he burnt out hard, deciding he wanted to leave the game entirely. When he asked Aokang to quit with him and was denied, he retired on his own through what the public deemed a very abrupt and unexpected press conference. He then enrolled in a community college, dodging paparazzi and press all the while, and later found himself a job in local government assisting with cultivation-related policy issues.

After getting back together with his ex he goes on to quit his office job and starts a bakery, Yuanyuan Bakery, named after his dog. He's very happy.
